Layout History

This layout was built through the Covid-19 lock down here in Germany. I decided to build a layout with stuff I had on hand in the spirit of then current regulations to prevent spread of the virus.
No significant trackplanning was needed. I only had one piece of HOn30 track that was bent to a circle. In case you're interested more construction photos are available in my thread on the Railroad-Line forum.
I cheated in one place though. I didn't have appropriate trees for the setting so I had to mailorder some.

This shot shows the whole layout. Focal point is the Grandt Line Mill. I did offset the circle a bit to have more room for placement of structures.

Overhead Shot

The blacksmith shop was scratchbuilt board by board. It is based on the prototype at Wawona in Yosemite.

Blacksmith Shop

A short train crosses the road to the mill. The engine is based on a a Bachmann N scale Plymouth diesel. The shell uses the hood from the Bachmann model and the cab from an old AHM HOn30 Plymouth. Again my parts box was scavenged for useful detail parts.

Mine tram

The truck was kitbashed from a Woodland Scenics kit and some styrene.
